Going Into Production

Page of 168

Using Sencha Architect and Sencha Cmd 3 you can easily build production versions of your app that run natively on iOS, Android, and as a web app.

You should always create a production web build, regardless of the device that you are targeting. Once the production web code is ready, you have the option of transforming it into a native build by using either Sencha Cmd 3 or PhoneGap (Cordova).

Native builds have significant advantages over their web-only counterparts:

  • Native builds can be distributed via Apple's App Store and Google Play.
  • Native builds can access resources on the device, such as the contacts list, that are not available from the browser sandbox.
  • Native builds are the only way to execute the functionality in Sencha's Ext.Device package.
  • Having an app on the App Store or Google Play makes you a "stud" in the eyes of your fellow developers.
