Exercise 2-2: Getting Started with Sencha Touch

Overview

In this exercise, you will perform the following tasks:

  • Configure Google Chrome for Development
  • Experiment with the Browser's Console View

Steps

Configure Chrome for Development

  1. Run Google Chrome
  2. Click on the Customize and Control Google Chrome buttonThe Customize and Control Google Chrome button
  3. Select Tools > Developer Tools
  4. Click on the Settings button, located in the lower left corner of Chrome.The Chrome settings button
  5. On the General tab, turn on the following checkboxes:
    • Dock to right
    • Disable cache
    • Log XMLHttpRequests
  6. Click on the Overrides tab
  7. Turn on the User Agent checkbox and set the User Agent to iPhone - iOS 4
  8. Turn on the Device metrics checkbox.
  9. Set the Screen resolution to 320 X 480
  10. Turn on the checkbox to Emulate touch events
  11. Close the Settings panel
Experiment with the Interactive Console
  1. Open the following URL: http://localhost/arch101/mobile/solution/final
  2. Bookmark this page.
  3. Click on the Console tab
  4. In the browser console, type the following command and review the results:
         
Ext.Msg.alert('Hello World','Welcome to Sencha Touch');
